The Hakone Open- Air Museum is one that you shouldn’t miss whether you are a big fan of arts or not, all the exhibitions are worth seeing with your own eyes. Truly a memorable and strange experience especially if you take time to get to know each and every piece of work (I promise it is a very COOL museum).😂
Will it take hours to do so? YES it will because the museum is MASSIVE! It took me 5 hours to circulate everything properly and sadly the time wasn’t even enough for me and the museum is not the common ones where you are walking hours and hours looking at paintings and sculptures from room to room and hallway to hallway. In here aside from just looking at them you get to play and interact with some displays in a huge open ground area facing beautiful valleys and mountains.
What’s unique about this museum is that it gives amazing art with a touch of weirdness, like you have no idea what was going on with the artist’s brain but still the outcome of the work is so awesome that you just can’t help but appreciate it. 😃
One of the first few sculptures you’ll see as you get inside the museum is the Grande Heracles Archer (Hercules the Archer) by Antoine Bourdelle which can be found in many museums but this one over here is pretty hilarious because they placed it in a way where the bow is facing the other statue, which makes it look like he caused that scene.😅
This one I found quite fascinating the fact that the artists who made this were a couple and out of their imagination this work was created. It is a huge head of a woman having hair made of leaves and if you look closely at the statue you can see tear marks streaming down her face and into the fountain.
So basically this museum has so much incredible artworks to see that it will take me forever to post them here and trust me I’ve got hundreds of photos of this place, which is why in a couple of days I will release another blog about this but focusing only on my favorite works in the museum. Hehe…😅 So I hope with this little sneak peek of what is inside is enough to spark your interest of making this a place to visit in one of your future travels. 😃
