Also known as “Japanese pancakes” or “Japanese Pizza” is an original cuisine of Japan made of flour, water or dashi, egg, cabbage, onion and other ingredients that you would want to put in such as pork, beef, chicken scallop,shrimp and etc.
In some restaurants you can grill your own okonomiyaki where they will serve you a bowl of raw ingredients that you mix and grill on tables fitted with teppan (iron plate) or special hotplates.
It took me quite sometime to actually like eating this even though it is really delicious but there was a point in time where my sister would always crave for this during dinner & ALAS! I got addicted to it as well. 😋
Here are the steps as to how to make Okonomiyaki 😃
You can use a frying pan for this as well if you don’t have teppan (iron plate) or hotplates. 🍳
First: mix the batter & ingredients together.
Second: Put oil in your teppan or frying pan.
Third: Pour your mixed batter using ladle into the pan.
Fourth: After a few minutes carefully flip over using spatula. The trick is to flip only once!
Fifth: Add some okonomiyaki sauce & mayonnaise (optional).
Last Step: Add Aonori (seaweed) or Katsubushi (dried tuna flakes).
